WHAT ARE ALL THE MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES?
Non-Contact
This includes both training and competitive games where the Rugby Canada National Law Variations apply. Tackling, rucking, mauling, scrummaging and Lineouts are not permitted in non-contact rugby.
Contact
This includes both training and competitive games where the World Rugby Laws of the Game apply and/or Rugby Canada National Law Variations. Contact may involve, tackling, rucking, mauling, scrummaging and line outs.
Masters Rugby Player
An individual who participates in training or competitive matches in accordance with the Golden Oldies Playing Laws. Please note that a Masters player cannot play in any competition, and or training, that is not in accordance with the Golden Oldies Playing Laws (i.e. men’s/women’s senior rugby).
Coach
An individual that leads and/or assists with the coaching of an athlete or team in either a training or competitive environment in accordance with World Rugby Laws of the Game and/or Rugby Canada National Law Variations.
Team Manager
An individual who is assigned to a club/team for the purpose of facilitating administrative duties.
Match Official
An individual who is responsible for enforcing the World Rugby Laws of the Game, and/or Rugby Canada National Law Variations, during a competitive match or in a training environment.
Medical Staff
An individual who is responsible for being the first responder to an injured participant in either a competitive match or training environment.
Board Member
An individual who is part of a group of people who jointly oversee the activities of a member club/organization.
Volunteer
An individual who assists in club activities, which may include but not limited to game day parking volunteers, event volunteers and or minor festival volunteers. A volunteer cannot perform the role of a coach, assistant coach, match official or medical staff.
HOW DO I KNOW WHICH AGE GRADE TO REGISTERÂ MY CHILD IN?
Age grades are divided by date of birth as follows for the 2020 season:

U19 - Born between Jan 1, 2001 and Dec 31, 2002

U17 - Born between Jan 1, 2003 and Dec 31, 2004

U15 - Born between Jan 1, 2005 and Dec 31, 2006

U13 - Born between Jan 1, 2007 and Dec 31,2008

U11 - Born between Jan 1, 2009 and Dec 31, 2010

U9 - Born between Jan 1, 2011 and Dec 31, 2012

U7 - Born after Jan 1, 2013
The appropriate age for your child is determined by their age as of January 1st of the current year. Therefore, if your child is 8 years old on January 1st, and turns 9 on January 2nd, your child should play in the under 9s age grade category.
